Scene 1
[Camera fades in from opening credits; it pans around the three graves of the deceased mallrats. Lottie steps into the sight of the camera with a bunch of flowers in her left hand. Camera pans out as Lottie places the flowers on Ruby’s grave. Lottie wipes a stray tear away as she steps back. A strong arm comes around her shoulder before pulling Lottie into a tight embrace]
Ryan: (Soothes her) Shh…everything is going to be ok?
Lottie: (Looks up) Is it Ryan? We have no home, we’ve lost three of our friends, Trudy’s gone, Ram too…You haven’t found him have you?
Ryan: (Shakes his head) I’m sorry Lottie but no one has seen him, he’s just disappeared.
(Lottie pulls away from the embrace and turns back to the graves)
Lottie: (angry) How could he? How could he leave us when we needed him the most?
Ryan: (shrugs) I guess it was too much for him to handle, he loved Ruby, she meant the world to him and when she died I guess staying was not an option for him.
Lottie: He could have at least said something; we could have helped him through it, grieved together.
Ryan: We all grieve in are own ways Lottie, this is just his way of coping; you never know he might come back.
Lottie: (Getting even angrier) I don’t want him to come back, he ruined everything, and he was meant to be there for me!
(Lottie turns on her heels and runs away from the burnt out school and Ryan)
Ryan: (Calls after her) Lottie!
(Scene cuts to the warehouses; where we find Sammy lying on his bed flicking through an old magazine. Camera pans around to show Lottie standing at the edge of his bed with tears in her eyes)
Lottie: Sammy?
(Sammy looks up and throws the magazine to the floor before pushing himself up from the bed)
Sammy: (Concerned) Lottie? What is it? What’s wrong?
(Sammy pushes himself of the bed and closes the distance between them)
Lottie: Everything! Sammy…will you hold me?
(Sammy nods and wraps his arms around Lottie, lowering them both back down onto the bed. Lottie slightly pulls away from the hug and then moves back in for a kiss. As the kiss deepens, Lottie pushes Sammy onto his back lowering herself on top of him)
Sammy: You sure?
[Lottie nods in response and goes back to kisses Sammy. Camera pans out before fading to black]
Scene 2
[The scene opens to an empty field filled with flowers, swing sets and gym equipment. KC is seen walking through the field, feeling the long grass brush past his fingers as he walks. He stops and takes a deep breath. KC stretches his arms and sits down. His figure is almost obscured by the grass. KC begins to watch the clouds swirl and shift by. The haze of the afternoon sun almost brings him to sleep. Patsy appears in the screen, running past KC. KC sits up and watches as Patsy runs past him]
KC: Hey Pats wait!
[Patsy just giggles at him and continues to run]
KC: (laughing) Hey wait!
[Patsy turns around and gives him a beaming smile. She continues to run ahead of him. KC starts to run behind her, laughing as he scrambles to keep up. The scene around them begins to get darker as night begins to fall on the scene]
KC: (urgently) PATSY WAIT!
[Patsy starts to pick up the pace in her running. KC struggles to keep up. A dark building appears ahead of them. As they approach the building KC stops and looks around him.]
KC: This isn’t right...
[Patsy scrambles up the steps to the building]
KC: (shouting/scared) PATSY STOP!
[Suddenly an explosion from inside the building is heard. Patsy reaches the front door of the building and reaches for the door knob. The explosion starts to carry through the building, working along the gas pipes. KC seeing the start of the explosions starts to panic.]
KC: (panicked) PATSY!
[The fire rips through Patsy burning and tearing at her clothes. The whole building collapses burying Patsy beneath it.]
KC: NO!
[KC sits bolt upright in bed. Patsy, who was lying beside him gently stirs and sits up next to KC. Patsy places her arms around KC and holds him. KC starts to cry softly.]
Patsy: KC it’s ok.
[KC starts to shake with sobbing. Patsy gently places a hand on KC’s head]
Patsy: KC you’re so sweaty. What happened?
KC: The school. Andy. You.
Patsy: Me?
KC: I dreamt that you died in the fire.
Patsy: (soothingly) Oh KC.
[KC lies down back in bed, tears rolling down his face. Patsy lies down next to him and holds him gently. Scene fades slowly to black from a birds eye angle.]
Scene 3
[The Mall Rats are gathered in the middle of the warehouse trying to compose themselves during the recent tragedies that have befallen them.]
Ryan: All right, settle down.
[Everyone continues to talk.]
Ryan: Can I have some attention?
[Still talk continues]
Lex: (yelling) Oi! Shut it!
[The room quietens down.]
Ryan: Thanks Lex!
Lex: Anytime
Ryan: Anyway, we’ve all gathered here because I feel like it’s time that we start to look for a new home.
Gel: Leave the warehouse?
Ryan: I don’t know about everyone else but with Cass and the twins, it’s starting to get a bit crowed with quarters.
Tai-san: Plus this isn’t our real home. We need something that makes us feel more bonded as a tribe.
Jack: Finally some sense is being talked around here. Even if it is by Tai-san
Tai-san: I choose to take that as a compliment.
Jack: It was a compliment
Tai-san: Then thanks
Lex: Can we get back to the point?
Ryan: The point is that we need to head out and find somewhere.
Gel: I repeat... Leave the warehouse?
Cloe: There are a lot of feral kids out there.
Cass: But we need to move on. Start fresh
Patsy: Some of us might not be ready to move on.
Cloe: I think the change will do us good.
Ryan: Well is there anyone opposed to the idea?
[Everyone looks around at each other waiting. No one speaks up]
Ryan: It’s settled then. Amber
Amber: Yeah?
Ryan: Can you draw up some group parties and have everyone scan different areas?
Amber: Sure. Shouldn’t be a problem.
Ryan: Alright then. Everyone grab provisions as you will need them for the next few days.
Bray: That’s it?
Ryan: That’s it.
Ellie: Cool. Dinner?
Jack: Here here!
[Scene fades]
Scene 4
[Camera fades in from black to show Gel and Phoenix standing by the docks looking out at the sea. Camera pans out to reveal Axel staring at them from a distance a frown set in place. He shakes his head in disbelieve as Gel rests her head on Phoenix’s shoulder]
Darryl OC: (with a small laugh) Having fun there?
(Axel turns around to see Darryl behind him)
Axel: (grins) Yea having the time of my laugh….
Darryl: (shakes his head) So why are you staring at them then?
(Axel looks behind himself again before turning back at Darryl)
Axel: It’s him, Phoenix, I don’t trust him. He was one of the modes which kicked her out of their tribe…he was one of them which made her leave the Mallrats…he’s wrong for her!
Darryl: Why are you bothered? I mean sure she’s your friend but if she has feeling for him then there is nothing you can say that will change that so just don’t worry about it and you know you could spend some time with me your boyfriend?
(Axel shrugs and moves in to give Darryl a kiss. As he pulls away from the kiss he runs one of his hands down Darryl’s face and leaves his hand to linger on his lovers cheek)
Axel: I’m sorry! I just don’t want to see her get hurt!
Darryl: (kisses Axels hand) It’s the only way she will learn…that’s how I learnt!
(Axel gives his boyfriend a warm smile before pulling away)
Axel: I’ll catch yea later yea?
Darryl: (Nods) yea sure
[Axel lets his hand skim over Darryl’s stomach as he walks past before going out of sight. Camera zoom’s in on Darryl before cutting to black]
Scene 5
[Camera fades in from black to show Trudy meeting a group of people; the camera focuses in on Trudy as she smiles as them, unloading Felicity from her back as she does.]
Trudy: I understand that Eric was a member of your tribe?
Tribe member 1: Yes… he was… why do you ask?
Trudy (sighs): Eric died… leaving behind his daughter…
(Suddenly a young girl of about 17 pushes her way through the tribe members and comes face to face with Trudy)
Girl: He died? My brother, Eric, he died?
Trudy (nods): Yes… I’m sorry; I didn’t know Eric had a sister…
Girl (sighs): He left after Sara died… he was so upset… (Motions to Felicity in Trudy’s arms) is that? Is that Felicity?
(Trudy nods as she hands over Felicity to the girl)
Trudy: Yes… this is Eric’s daughter… he asked that she be returned to his tribe, to be with those that could love her…
Girl: Thank you… thank you for returning my niece…
(The girl takes Felicity as the leader of the tribe looks at Trudy and smiles)
Tribe leader: Will you stay with us for a few days?
Trudy (shakes her head): No thanks… I have my own child to get home to…
Tribe member 2: We understand thank you… and good luck…
[Trudy looks back at Felicity and the girls, the two of them seem happy and Trudy feels a weight lifted off her shoulders as she smiles and heads back the way she came, back to Brady. The camera watches as she fades into the horizon before cutting to black.]
Scene 6
[Camera cuts in from black to show Darryl sat on his make shift bed with his legs crossed and his art supplies he was able to save from the school, spread out in front of him. A couple of art books lay in a pile on the edge of the bed, some of them are slightly burnt. On the floor lies a completely burnt pad of paper on the front is a picture of Eric, Trudy, Felicity and Brady.]
(Darryl picks up the nearest book to him and flicks through the pages until he finds a blank page. Passing by pictures of the mallrats past and present. He then reaches over and picks up a pencil before he starts to sketch out a picture)
(Camera zooms in on Darryl as he concentrates on his work, camera pans around and we see that he is drawing a picture of Trudy. As he adds the final touches to the picture he smiles to himself as he pulls the page out from the book)
[Darryl folds the picture in half and writes Brady’s name on the front, he then climbs off his bed and makes his way to Brady’s bed where he lies the picture down on the pillow. Camera zooms in on the pillow before fading to black]
Scene 7
[Camera fades in from black to show Lex and Ryan walking down a back alley, they pass an old factory when Ryan stops Lex and points to the building.]
Lex: What?
Ryan: This place use to be Krul territory.
Lex (shrugs): So?
Ryan: So, shouldn’t we check it out…
Lex: I don’t want to live here… not in their old territory!
Ryan (rolls his eyes): I didn’t mean that… I meant we should take a look around… just because!
Lex: Make yourself clear next time man!
(Ryan shakes his head as the pair of them head into the building; the camera follows behind them as they step into a dark room)
Lex: Looks like this…
(Lex stops in his tracks when he sees a figure in the shadows)
Lex: Hey… what are you doing here?
Dreamer: I could ask you the same thing Lex!
Ryan: Dreamer… what are you doing here?
(Dreamer sighs as the rest of the Freedom Fighters step out from the shadows)
Dreamer: Taking care of this place. We’re systematically going through all of the Krul bases to make sure that they’re safe and see what supplies we can get…
Lex: So long as you share what you find…
Dreamer (glares): I’m not even going to answer that Lex…
(Lex glares at Dreamer for the longest moment)
Ryan: Right, we’re out of here… come on Lex…
Dreamer: Have fun boys!
(Dreamer waves goodbye to Lex as Ryan as the camera follows them out of the building)
Lex: I don’t like that chick… she’s way too uptight!
Ryan: Whatever… come on let’s get on!
[Lex and Ryan head further down the back alley as the camera cuts to the next scene.]
Scene 8
[Ebony, still fuming over the past few days is sitting in her room. As she sits on her bed she continuously punches the pillow in frustration. Dreamer enters from the doorway.]
Dreamer: Doing some constructive thinking?
Ebony: I did everything for that tribe.
Dreamer: But you only did it for yourself
Ebony: How would you know?
Dreamer: Cause I know you Ebony.
[Dreamer enters from the doorway and sits on the bed beside Ebony.]
Dreamer: Wanna talk about it?
Ebony: No
Dreamer: You sure?
Ebony: No
Dreamer: I can’t keep going in circles Ebony
Ebony: I’ve done things that even a normal person can’t fathom.
Dreamer: I know that.
Ebony: It’s gotten me power. I want that power back.
Dreamer: Is that your future Ebony? Power?
Ebony: I want control of everything
Dreamer: Is that because you don’t have control over your own life?
[Ebony shoots Dreamer a dark look but says nothing.]
Dreamer: Just think about it Ebony. Maybe if you control your own life, you might actually achieve something in favour of the Mallrats.
[Scene fades with Dreamer walking out the door.]
Scene 9
[Patsy walks into KC’s room. KC is lying on his bed, reading a burnt book.]
Patsy: Come on KC. Put the book away, I need to put some lotion on your burns.
[KC looks up from the book and smiles at Patsy.]
KC: hmm. I dunno. I’m feeling much better without it.
[Patsy walks over to the bed]
Patsy: Alright, shirt off.
[KC grins]
KC: I love it when a woman takes control.
[Patsy gives KC a playful hit, not where he’s injured]
Patsy: This is for your own good KC; now lie on your back.
[KC shifts his body so that his head is facing the pillow. Patsy applies a small amount of the lotion to KC’s back. KC shivers]
Patsy: Oh I’m sorry did that hurt?
KC: No just cold.
Patsy: Oh, did you want me to stop?
KC: On the contrary, I’d rather that you kept going.
Patsy: KC!
KC: what? I can’t help it.
Patsy: If all you can think about is sex, then you’re never going to get better.
KC: They say that love is a magic healer.
[KC sits up and wraps his arms around Patsy. Patsy runs a hand across his bare arm. KC tries to pull Patsy in close]
KC: I think I’m all better now.
Patsy: I wish you where.
[KC leans in a kisses Patsy tenderly on the lips. Teasing her.]
Patsy: That’s so mean!
KC: (mischievously) but you love it.
[KC tries to move his hands towards Patsy’s top. Patsy gently touches KC’s hands and brings them back to his sides.]
Patsy: Maybe when you’re better KC. Right now, I just don’t want to see you get hurt.
KC: Hurt?
Patsy: You know what I mean.
KC: Yeah I do. That’s what makes it more exciting.
[Patsy giggles and gets up from the bed]
Patsy: Another time KC, right now, your health is more important to me.
KC: How could I argue with that?
[Patsy leans down and kisses KC.]
Patsy: I’ll leave you to cool off for a while.
[Patsy slowly tears herself away from KC. KC looks sullen at Patsy but Patsy only smiles and closes the door behind her. Scene fades to black]
Scene 10
[A pool of blue is all that can be seen from the camera. As the camera slowly zooms out we are able to see that the camera was fixed on the sky and looking through a window. The camera slowly pans around the room to show clothes thrown in different directions. Finally the camera rests on two figures that are curled up in bed together. As the camera slowly gets closer to the bed, Lottie suddenly sits up very quickly as though she had been startled. She takes a quick look around and looks in the bed next to her. Sammy’s body slowly rises and falls as he sleeps soundly. Lottie rakes a hand through her hair and bites her lip, thinking of what happened the night before. Sammy slowly stirs.]
Sammy: (eyes half open) Morning
Lottie: Morning
[As the situation begins to dawn on Lottie she starts to panic more and more.]
Lottie: I think I’d better go...
Sammy: (surprised) What? No stay!
Lottie: (starts to move from the bed) No really I have to go.
Sammy: Lottie what’s wrong?
Lottie: nothing, I’ve just got to go.
[Lottie starts to grab her clothes]
Sammy: Was it something I said?
Lottie: (angry) Listen Sammy, it’s nothing that you’ve done. I’ve just got to GO!
[Lottie begins to get changed]
Sammy: I’m trying to understand Lottie.
Lottie: Well don’t!
[Finally dressed Lottie starts to head for the door.]
Sammy: Lottie please talk to me!
Lottie: (screams) NO!
[Lottie exits the room slamming the door behind her leaving Sammy totally devastated.]
Scene 11
[Camera fades in to show Lex and Ryan strolling through the city again, they come across an old parking lot, walking in as Ryan glances around.]
Ryan: Lex… I don’t like this…
Lex: Not feeling chicken are you Ryan?
(Ryan shakes his head)
Ryan: No, I’m just worried about them… (Ryan points to the strays in the car park)
Lex: Oh… that could be a problem… good job I’m in great shape… can’t say the same for you!
Ryan: Lex… this is not the time!
(Lex rolls his eyes and laughs, turning so that him and Ryan are back to back)
Lex: It is always the time and these people are just scummy Krul rejects!
(The strays start to surround Lex and Ryan)
Stray 1: You ruined it all! Everything!
Lex: Oh get over yourself!
Ryan: Yeah… you’re asking for it…
Stray 2: Give us your best!
Lex: You asked for it!
(Lex and Ryan fight their way back from the 20 strays that have surrounded them, kicking and punching the weak ex-Kruls before they make a run for it)
Lex: Come on slow poke!
Ryan: Hey… don’t call me names!
(The pair of them run out of the car parking lot, Lex leading with Ryan slightly behind, the strays from the car parking lot does not follow them. As Lex comes to a stop around a corner, Ryan stopping as well)
Ryan: Nice job in there!
Lex: You too!
Ryan: Let’s get the hell out of here!
Lex: Too right… I hope we don’t run into anymore of them!
[Camera fades to black.]
Scene 12
[Camera fades in from black to show Gel sitting underneath an old oak tree crossed legged with her face in her hands, she looks up and we see that she has been crying. Camera pans around to show Phoenix lurking in the showers of a group of trees a few feet behind Gel in the park. He rests his head against the nearest tree and closes his eyes. Westlifes catch my breathe plays through this scene]
Flashback:
(Camera pans around a school campus, the sound of the school bell ringing brings the courtyard to life as doors are pushed opened and children leave their classes. Camera zooms in on one of doors and we see younger versions of Gel and Luna leaving their class arm in arm, whispering to each other and laughing. Camera pans around to show a younger Phoenix sitting on a bench with a group of his friends talking he looks up as Gel and Luna walk past not able to take his eyes of the younger girls)

(It’s just after the virus hit and the younger versions of Gel and Phoenix are sitting under the same tree. Phoenix is sitting on his knees using his penknife to engrave their names on the tree, while Gel has her head resting on his knees and fixing her make up. She moves the mirror away and smiles as she releases what he has done.)

(Phoenix pulls Gel closer to him and they share a small kiss, as they break Gel snuggles up close to Phoenix resting her head on his chest. Catch my breathe still plays in the background)
Phoenix: (Whispers) Come with us Gel, you’ve always been a Mode and now with me as leader your be welcomed back
Gel: (Moves closer into his embrace) But I’m not a Mode anymore I’m a Mallrat and I don’t think I’m ready to give up that just now, for the first time in my life I have a family and real friends
Phoenix: (Saddened) But your ready to give up on us already?
Gel: No of course not! (Looks up at him) Can’t you make them stay, this is your home anyway…or if they wont stay, you could always stay!
Phoenix: (Shakes his head) Just like the Mallrats are your family the Modes are mine…I can’t leave them not yet and Apollo needs me…he’s my kid brother!
GeL: So that’s it then?
(Phoenix shrugs his shoulders and rests his head on top of Gel’s)

Scene 13
[Camera cuts in from the previous scene to show Salene and May at the Naturals camp, Salene is very smiley as May looks at her worriedly.]
Salene: I’m so excited… we have a baby… a real baby son…
May (nods): I know… we’re very lucky that Lottie has given us this opportunity…
Salene (scoffs): Lucky! She isn’t fit to be a mother…
May (gasps): Salene… how can you say that? Lottie has been through so much, and it’s not as though Lottie got pregnant on purpose… she was raped…
(Salene glares at May and shrugs)
Salene; She had a baby, a wonderful human life that she could care for and love. Why does it matter where it comes from? Giving that up makes her nothing more than a selfish cow in my book! Now why don’t these Naturals hurry up!
(May suddenly slaps Salene and jumps up)
May: This baby is not a quick fix Sal… it’s not going to make everything better. And it certainly won’t help with you bitching about Lottie like that… Sometimes I don’t know why I love you so much!
(May shakes her head and leaves the area where she and Salene have been sitting to go and take a walk)
Salene: Touchy!
[Camera fades to black.]
Scene 14
[Camera fades in from black to show Gel curled up in a ball crying into her pillow. A figure looms over her before sitting on the edge of the bed and resting a friendly hand on his shoulder]
Axel: He was always going to break your heart Gel, you know that!
Gel: (through sobs) Please Axel, don’t!
Axel: (shakes his head) He broke your heart before you should of…
(Gel quickly sits up and pushes Axel away from her)
Gel: (Angry) Shut up Axel! I don’t need this now!
Axel: (Softly) I’m just trying to help
Gel: I don’t need any help…
Axel: We’re friends…I want to help
Gel: (Nods) I know but maybe you should be more worried about you own relationship!
Axel: (frowns) What do you mean Gel?
(Gel wipes her eyes on her sleeves before pushing herself up from the bed)
Gel: All I’m saying is that your more worried about my own problems then your own, maybe it’s time you treated Darryl like a boyfriend and show him that you care…I hardly ever see you together these days, he’s always looking after Brady and you…I don’t know what you do apart from watch me and Phoenix!
(Gel turns on her heels to leave)
Axel: Gel?
Gel: (turns to face him) I’m not angry at you Axel; you’re my best friend, that’s why I’m telling you this!
Axel: (smiles) I need to make it up to Darryl don’t I?
Gel: (Nods) and I need to sort it out with Phoenix before it’s too late.
[Gel then turns away and runs out from the warehouse. Camera cuts to black]
Scene 15
[A small plane begins in the shot. The camera zooms out from the plane to reveal the empty airport. Bags of disused luggage are spread across the tarmac. Empty cars and machines gives the airport a haunted feeling. KC and Patsy slowly edge towards the airport, KC with a metal baseball bat in one hand, holding onto Patsy’s hand with the other.
Patsy: Do you think it’s safe?
KC: I really don’t know.
[They walk closer to the entrance]
Patsy: KC if you’re not up to it then everyone would understand. I’d understand. The tribe would understand.
KC: Patsy stop worrying. I’m fine. Really!
[Suddenly a sharp bang is heard to the left. KC shoves Patsy behind him and raises the bat. A scruffy dog runs past them.]
Patsy: Thanks.
KC: Don’t mention it.
[They finally reach the entrance to the airport and slowly push the automatic doors aside.]
KC: it looks deserted.
[Patsy begins to look in some of the shops that were left behind.]
KC: What are you doing?
Patsy: Checking to see if there are any pharmacies.
KC: Why?
Patsy: Provisions.
[KC stands on the ground level of the airport and turns in a full 360 degrees.]
KC: I can’t believe that no one has made this into their home yet
Patsy: (Yelling) HELLO?
KC: scream a bit louder next time.
Patsy: There could be someone here!
[KC looks at Patsy for a second]
KC: (yelling) ANYONE THERE?
Patsy: Giving into peer pressure?
KC: (smiling) Yes.
[They look about for any other existence in the airport.]
Patsy: Why hasn’t anyone made this into their home yet?
KC: I don’t know?
Patsy: It’s not very well protected.
KC: Jack, Lex, Bray, Darryl, Axel and Ryan would see to that.
Patsy: And you.
KC: And me.
[KC looks at Patsy.]
KC: Do you think we could start again here?
Patsy: As a tribe?
KC: yeah
Patsy: I think we could. Just needs to feel more like a home.
KC: (sighing) Agreed.
[Patsy suddenly smiles and hugs KC]
Patsy: I think it could work!
KC: Well then, let’s go and tell the others!
[KC and Patsy start the run back to the mall. Excitement building up as they run along the road. The camera follows the two running from an upper shot until they are far away in the distance. Cuts to next scene]
Scene 16
[Camera fades in to show Cloe sitting in the kitchen area of the warehouse, watching at the Mallrats come in dribs and drabs from hunting from a new home. Sighing Cloe glances over at Patsy and KC, the two of them are snuggling on one of the old sofas, as Cloe glances around.]
Darryl: Hey Cloe, everything alright?
(Cloe, disturbed from her staring looks at Darryl)
Cloe: Oh yeah… I was just… just thinking…
Darryl: About?
Cloe: Things.
Darryl (nods): Okay, I get it… you don’t want to talk about it…
Cloe: Oh god… I’m sorry, I was being rude…
Darryl (shakes his head): Don’t worry about it…
Cloe: Look, I was and I’m sorry… I’m just in my own little depressive world. With that to look at (Cloe points to Patsy and KC) …it doesn’t make me feel like crap…
(Darryl glances over at Patsy and KC; the two of them are snogging and look very cozy)
Darryl: I get you… nice and depressing isn’t it? All these couples around! Anyway, I have to go… catch you later…
(Cloe watches as Darryl leaves, a smile breaking across her lips)
Cloe: Yes… I will see you later…
[Camera zooms to Cloe’s happy smirk before fading to black.]
Scene 17
[Camera fades in from black to show May at the natural camp, she is sitting by a small fire by herself watching Salene talking to other members of the Natural tribe]
Crow: Mind if I join you?
May: (Looks up and shrugs) It’s your camp do what you want
(Crow grins and sits himself next to May)
Crow: Can you pass on a message to Cloe and the other Mallrats?
May: Do I have a choice?
Crow: (shakes his head) Once you and Salene leave the camp, we’re moving on to a place where the Mallrats can’t find us cause all you guys bring is chaos and can you give this note to Cloe please.
(May accepts the note and slips it into her pocket)
May: (snaps) It’s about time you tree huggers move on…and Cloe will be just fine without you, I would say even better!
[May pushes herself up and storms off sending one final look at Salene as she waits for her new child. Camera fades to black]
Scene 18
[Camera fades in to show Sammy bringing in flowers to the warehouse. As Sammy walks he can be seen talking to himself]
Sammy: (muttering slightly) Hi Lottie.
[Sammy shakes his head at the line.]
Sammy: How’s it going Lottie? (Smacking a hand to his head) Idiot! No, she was feeling horrible this morning.
[As Sammy makes his way down the corridor towards Lottie’s room he catches a brief glimpse of Lottie’s hair around the corner. In Sammy’s excitement he yells out to her.]
Sammy: (shouting) Hey Lottie!
[Lottie quickly turns around to look at who called her. When she sees it was Sammy, she quickly takes off.]
Sammy: (shouting) Lottie Wait!
[Lottie continues to run and disappears around the corner]
Sammy: (shakes his head) I wasn’t that bad was I?
[Scene fades to black with Sammy throwing the flowers onto the floor.]
Scene 19
[Camera fades in from black to show Salene sitting around a fire at the Naturals camp, one of the Naturals approaches with a bundle in blue, as Salene looks excited.]
Salene: Ohmigod… is this him, is this my son?
Lilac (smiles): Yes… this is the little one…
(Salene holds out her arms, eager to take the boy from him)
Lilac: This is Oscar…
(Salene frowns as she takes the baby)
Salene: Oscar? He already has a name?
Lilac (nods): Lottie named him… it was the one thing that she could give him…
Salene: Oh really? Oscar? Why Oscar?
Lilac: She said that it was her grandfather’s name…
Salene: Oh…
(Salene looks down at the small bundle in her arms, she smiles at him happily as she rocks him, singing a softly lullaby until he falls asleep)
Lilac: Ah… you’re a natural… Oscar really loves you…
Salene: Hhm… Oscar… we’ll see about that…
[Salene looks down at her son and smiles happily before the camera fades to black.]
Scene 20
[Camera fades in from black to show Darryl lying on his bed with Brady next to him and Bray Jnr sitting on his chest and holding his hands. In one of Brady’s hands is the picture of her mother that Darryl had done for her.]
Darryl: (Cont.) “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and blow your house down,” the big bad wolf said through the door while inside the three little pigs shock with fear and so with a huff and a puff the wolf tried to blow the house of bricks down…..
(Camera pans out to show Axel lying on his own make shift bed watching Darryl read the two young children the story. A smile creeps over his lips and he closes his eyes as he lets Darryl’s voice help him slip into a pleasant dream)
Brady: (Interrupts) The big bad wolf is so nasty, I don’t like him
(Bray Jnr giggles in agreement, as he rocks backwards and forwards)
Darryl: (Laughs) That’s the whole point you’re not meant to like him…now are you going to let me finish the story or ill get uncle Lex to read you to sleep!
Brady: (giggles) You mean the big bad wolf?
Darryl: (grins) So what’s it going to be?
Brady: (smiles back) Carry on then!
[Brady rolls her eyes as she makes herself comfortable while Bray Jnr lets out a yawn as Darryl lays the small child down and gently pats his back to get him to sleep. Camera pans out as Darryl finishes the story before cutting to the next scene]
Scene 21
[Camera cuts from the previous scene to show Alice and Cloe walking through the town, the song ‘Manhunt’ plays in the background as the pair of the stroll up through the town.]
Alice: So little one… where are we girlies off to?
Cloe (smirks): Call me little one again and that is nowhere. But how about we hit a bar or two to look for a man?
(Alice laughs as she links hands with Cloe)
Alice: That sounds like a plan to me…
(The camera cuts to a bar and pans around to show the entrance as Cloe and Alice saunter in)
Brooke: Uh oh, here comes trouble!
Alice: Hey, what’s up Brooke?
Brooke: Same old. Looks like you two ladies are on a manhunt!
Cloe: You could say that!
(Cloe laughs at the situation as her and Alice take a seat at the bars)
Brooke (to the bar): Watch out boys… these girls are on the hunt!
[The camera cuts to show boys laughing at Brooke’s announcement as Cloe and Alice clink glasses and down the first of several shots. The camera then fades to black.]
Scene 22
[Camera fades in from black to show Trudy walking through woodland, the light of the day is starting to fade as the woods get darker and Trudy walks humming to herself. Suddenly the sound of a twig cracking can be heard and Trudy spins around.]
Trudy: Hello? Is someone there?
(There is no response as Trudy pulls her coat tighter around her and sighs, picking up her pace a little. Another twig cracks behind her)
Trudy (loudly): I know there is someone there… come out and show yourself!
[Trudy stares at the woods for the longest time before she breathes deeply and starts to run through the woodland. The camera follows her for the longest time, before spinning around to show a figure stepping from the shadows and the camera cutting to black.]
Scene 23
[Dreamer is sitting in her newly refurbished office. A pile of books are sitting on the desk slowly being sorted through.]
Dreamer: (picking up a book) Darwin: Survival of the fittest. Definitely a keeper.
[Dreamer places the book upon the shelf behind her desk.]
Dreamer: (picking up another book) Plutarch: The life and times of Cato the Elder. A tyrant. Might help Ebony.
[Dreamer laughs quietly at her own little joke. She quickly brushes off the smile.]
Dreamer: No time for jokes now.
[Dreamer reaches out and gently taps a book with her fingers. It only seemed like yesterday when the Mallrats washed upon the Melbourne coastline.]
Dreamer: The Mallrats cause a lot of conflicts. Good and bad.
[As Dreamer continues to mull over past events a loud crash is heard just outside her office. Dreamer rushes outside to find Ebony on the floor and Lucy cradling her head.]
Lucy: (hysterical) She just collapsed. I was walking with her to come and see you and SHE JUST COLLAPSED.
Dreamer: (shaking Lucy slightly) Lucy, snap out of it. We’ve got to get her back to her room.
Lucy: How?
Dreamer: We’ll carry her.
[Dreamer slowly picks up Ebony’s limp body and with Lucy bracing Ebony’s head, they move slowly down the hall towards Ebony’s room.]
[Scene fades with a close up on Ebony’s face.]
Scene 24
[KC and Patsy still excited from their recent adventure to the airport come rushing into the warehouse. Both of them are screaming, yelling and carrying on that it carries throughout the whole building. Ryan sticks hid head out of the doorway.]
Ryan: Would you two please be quiet? We’re trying to put the twins down for a nap.
KC: (Yelling, running past) Sorry Ryan, can’t. Need to talk to everyone now!
Patsy: (running) It’s the best news!
[The two of them keep running until they meet in the small common area that had been created from old chairs and tables. Most of the Mallrats are there looking at Patsy and KC like they’re crazy.]
Bray: Alright you two, what’s going on?
KC: (smiling) What’s going on is that we’ve finally found our new home!
[A small buzz of conversation starts to erupt from the group.]
Amber: Wait, hold on. You found us a new place to live?
Patsy: Yeah!
Lex: Where?
KC: the old Airport.
Jack: What are you crazy?
Patsy: what’s wrong with it?
Jack: Security for a start. It’s such an open building.
Bray: But you could fix that, right Jack?
Jack: (working out the calculations in his head) it would take at least two weeks, but it could be done.
[KC starts to bounce excitedly.]
KC: You should see the amount of space it has!
Patsy: There’s enough room for everyone plus the entire uncollected luggage that was there. It could really help the tribe.
KC: A new start.
[The Mallrats remain silent, thinking about the move to the airport.
Amber: (going over to Patsy and hugging her) Well I think it sounds like a wonderful idea.
Patsy: Really?
Amber: It’s isolated enough from the city that we don’t have to worry about invasions or intruders.
Ryan: Plus it gives us some much needed space.
Lex: I vote that the ones with kids stay in one part of the airport.
Cass: That doesn’t surprise me Lex.
KC: But there is enough room to do that and more!
Patsy: Think of all the electrical equipment left behind Jack
[Jack’s eyes begin to glow with the thought.]
Jack: I’m in.
Ryan: Me too.
KC: All in favour?
Everyone: Yes!
Bray: It’s settled then. We move to the airport.
[A triumphant cheer is heard from all the Mallrats. They hug one another and begin to talk excitedly about the new chapter in their lives. Scene fades to black.]
Scene 25
[Camera pans around the north side of the city limits, here we find the Modes all packed up and ready to go. They are all dressed in travelling clothes and the younger children and being lifted up onto the shoulders of the older members. Camera zooms in on Luna who is pacing back and forward looking back towards the city]
Luna: (Whispers to herself) Where are they?
(A young girl around the age of fifteen approaches Luna with a sleeping baby in her arms)
Gaby: Everyone is ready to go Luna…any news on Phoenix and Apollo?
(Luna shakes her head and runs her hand through her hair)
Luna: we will give them five more minutes then we will set off, send word to our scouts to prepare to move!
(Gaby nods and goes over to two older teenager boys before they run off down the path ahead. Camera cuts back to Luna who is picking up her bag and slinging it over her shoulder)
Phoenix: Not planning to leave without us are you?
(Luna turns around to find Phoenix and Apollo standing behind her with their bags over their shoulders)
Luna: (Surprised) You’re here!
Apollo: (Rolls eyes) Well duh!
Luna: (Narrows her eyes) Grow up Apollo…
Phoenix: OH my god give it arrest you two!
Gel OS: PHOENIX
(The Three Modes look back towards the city to find Gel running down the road; she stops in her tracks and pulls her heels off before she carries on running towards the Modes)
Phoenix: Gel?
(Gel stops a few inches away from the tribe to catch her breathe)
Gel: Please Phoenix don’t go…I love you…
Phoenix: (Stutters) I…umm
Apollo: (Raises an eyebrow) Bro?
Gel: (Tears in her eyes) Please?
[Camera cuts between Gel, Phoenix, Apollo and Luna before fading to black]
[End Credits cut in]
